Henning Schmiedt Performs 3 Drei
Together with pianist Henning Schmiedt and perfumer Sari, I began the collaborative project “3 Drei” in spring 2023 at a house by a lake in the forest of Lanke, Brandenburg, Germany.
We spent time together in the forest without deciding in advance what we would create. The quiet lake, the moisture in the air, and the sounds of birds and insects became part of our days. Each of us encountered the same surroundings through a different practice—music, scent, and visual expression. The experiences of that time gradually developed into the album Music for 3.
On May 16, we came together again for an installation and concert at the Glass Pyramid in Moerenuma Park, Sapporo. Henning’s piano, Sari’s scents, and my spatial work were brought together in relation to the light and architecture of the building.
Moving from the forest in Germany to this space in Sapporo gave the project another setting. Through sound, scent, and visual elements, we continued the exchange that had begun beside the lake.
「3 Drei」は、ピアニスト Henning Schmiedt、調香師 沙里、そして私の3人による共同プロジェクト。2023年春、ドイツ・ブランデンブルク州ランケの湖畔にある森の家で始まりました。
私たちは、あらかじめ制作の目的や完成形を定めることなく、同じ自然環境の中で時間を共有しました。湖、森、空気の湿度、鳥や虫の音。それらは誰もが同じように捉えるものではなく、それぞれの経験や感覚によって異なる意味をもちます。音楽、香り、視覚表現という異なる方法を通して、ひとつの環境をどのように認識し、表現することができるのか。その過程から生まれた作品が、アルバム『Music for 3』です。
5月16日、札幌・モエレ沼公園のガラスのピラミッドにて、3人によるインスタレーションとコンサートを行いました。Henning のピアノ、沙里による香り、そして私による空間表現。それぞれ独立した表現が、建築や自然光と関係しながら、ひとつの空間を構成しました。
ドイツの森で始まった制作を、異なる土地と建築の中で再び展開すること。それは、作品を別の場所へ移すだけでなく、環境との関係によって表現そのものがどのように変化するのかを考える機会でもありました。音、香り、視覚的な要素は、それぞれ異なる性質をもちながら、同じ空間と時間を共有する。その相互の関係性もまた、このプロジェクトの重要な要素となっています。
